We have seen this fault is most commonly seen in VW Golf FSI engines like BPY, and TSI engines like CCTA and CBFA, VW Passat 1.8T engines (code AEB, AUG, AWM) and some V6 engines (code VAG), VW Jetta 1.8T engines (codes AWP, AWW) and TSI engines like CCTA, VW Beetle 2.0L engines (code AEG) and 1.8T engines (code APH, AWV), VW Tiguan TSI engines, particularly CCTA and CBFA and VW Touareg V6 engines like the AXQ and older V8 engines (code BAR).
• DSG Transmission Issues include jerky shifts, delayed gear engagement, transmission overheating, and in some cases, complete transmission failure. These problems may arise due to various factors, including the dual-clutch mechanism, mechatronic unit faults, or software glitches. We have seen this fault is most commonly seen in the following models:
  • Volkswagen Golf - TSI engines (CCTA, CBFA) and TDI engines (CJAA). DSG Type: These are mainly the 6-speed DQ250 and 7-speed DQ200 transmissions.
  • Volkswagen Passat - TDI engines like BKP, BMN, and TSI engines. DSG Type: These are mainly the 6-speed DQ250 and 7-speed DQ200 transmissions.
  • Volkswagen Jetta - (CCTA, CBFA) and TDI engines (CJAA). DSG Type: These are mainly the 6-speed DQ250 and 7-speed DQ200 transmissions.
  • Volkswagen Beetle - TSI engines (CCTA, CBFA). DSG Type: Mainly the 6-speed DQ250.

The VW Jetta, particularly with the 2.0L CBEA and CJAA engines, also faces similar problems. The VW Tiguan's issues are mostly found in the 2.0L TDI engines, including the CFFB and CAWA. In the VW Touareg, the V6 TDI engines like the CASA and CATA are affected.
• Excessive oil consumption, is primarily attributed to faults in engine design and components. This problem, often seen in certain TSI and FSI petrol engines, is due to factors like deteriorating piston rings, valve seals, or issues with the turbocharger system, leading to oil seeping into the combustion chamber and burning off. Notable models affected include the VW Golf, Passat, Jetta, and Tiguan, predominantly with TSI engines like the EA888 (codes CCTA, CBFA) and FSI engines (codes BPY, CAWB). Additionally, the 2.0L TDI engines (codes such as CBEA, CJAA) in models like the Jetta and Passat have also been reported to experience this issue. This excessive oil consumption can lead to reduced engine performance, increased emissions, and the need for more frequent oil top-ups, making it a significant concern for owners.
